• The ham steaks were thick, the potatoes were perfect and the snap peas had a sweet and tangy sauce with it. More satisfying than the meal, though, was the warmth of the family as they ate the meal together. Celeste felt something she'd not felt, even when her parents were still alive. There was an ease, a comfort as she sat at their table.
• After the meal, Marie cautiously agreed that Ashley could spend the night at Celeste's home. She reminded her daughter that they went to 9:15 Mass at St. Anthony's.
